INSTRUMENTS

I am currently building 6-8 guitars annually and make my instruments available directly to players. I always keep at least one demo instrument on hand. Although I am happy to ship an instrument for your approval, whenever practicable, I strongly encourage players to visit my studio. It affords the player an opportunity to try any instrument available at the time and to discuss any specific adjustments or custom commissions. This approach has afforded me the opportunity to develop a personal relationship and element of trust with my clients.

The images below are examples of some of my recent work. You can click on any image for an enlarged view of the guitar, the specifications and the price of the instrument.

My standard classical guitar is a 650 mm scale instrument. The standard instrument is built using East Indian rosewood and with western red cedar or various species of spruce top woods. All the woods used to create my guitars are well seasoned, as most of my wood supply has been curing in my shop for over twenty years. My rosette is made from natural and dyed veneers and all of the purfling and bindings for the guitar are made in my shop. The standard finish is a hand-applied French polish of shellac. I am currently using Waverly/Sloane tuners on my instruments.

My standard steel string guitar is a 635 mm scale, grand concert size instrument. It is available with 12 or 14 frets clear to the body. The standard instrument is built using East Indian rosewood and with various species of spruce or western red cedar top woods. The standard finish is a hand rubbed varnish.

Each instrument is provided with an arched top and back, black vinyl covered, hard shell case. The standard classical guitar is currently priced at $4300. The standard steel strin guitar is $3800. I am happy to provide a quote for an instrument using Brazilian rosewood, other scale lengths, tonewoods, finishes, hardware, cases or other custom features as you may require.

Commissions may be accepted for custom instruments built to individual specifications and details of custom orders will be discussed personally with the client. The current waiting period is approximately one year.
